Lap dance sting a waste of policing
YOUR report [“Lap dancer ‘offered whole night for £300’,” June 20] said Ealing council, with the co-operation of police, launched a “sting operation”, at the end of which a lap dancer was heard to say the plain clothes officer could “spend the night with her” for £300. Has anybody from these authorities come forward to explain how this no doubt expensive operation (lots of overtime payments) improves the life of our city, at a time when it’s almost impossible to get the services of a policeman and there are constant mugging and stabbings in the streets?

SURELY it’s time for the state to get out of the business of policing morality, for “vice” to be legalised and taxed, and for some of our high streets to become “pleasure districts”. Simon Diggins
