Gin is the tonic for hay fever sufferers

-

I AM a hay fever sufferer who moved to London from Cornwall six weeks ago. I arrived in the capital expecting to feel sick every day, groggy and lethargic — as I always did whenever I visited before and had evenings out with friends in which pizza and wine were usually involved.

But in those six weeks since, I have taken all eight of my remaining offthe-shelf tablets, not replaced them and not felt sick once.

I have simply stuck to the guidance of avoiding drinking or eating anything with high histamine levels that sets me off. Drinks such as red wine and beer and foods like cheese and pizza all do.

I can advise all Londoners, just for the next two to three months, to reach for a G&T or rose vermouth and tonic to survive the summer if you want to imbibe but have fun. Lucy Robinson
