1,000 BOAT MIGRANTS RESCUED IN A SINGLE DAY

ALMOST 1,000 African migrants were rescued from inflatable boats headed for Italy in a single day, officials said. At least 10 bodies were also recovered from the sea by Libyan coastguards yesterday. The country’s west coast is the main departure point for thousands trying to reach Europe. Earlier this month, a charity rescue ship carrying 600 migrants was stranded at sea for several day after Italy barred it from docking.
