‘Belgium are good but we are confident’

-

England have won their opening two games at a World Cup for just the third time. Henderson is delighted with the achievement but feels another three points against Belgium will send out a statement of intent.

“Now we’d like to prove we can beat one of the favourites,” he said. “Belgium have played some good stuff over the last couple of games. They have top players, a top team. It will be a tough game for us, but we are confident after what we have done in our two matches. We want to put in another good display and keep our winning streak going.

“It might help that we know so many of their players through the Premier League, but it will still be difficult. The most important thing is fo r u s to recover well and keep the level high.”

Dele Alli was part of a small section of the squad to train this morning after a thigh problem ruled him out of yesterday’s match.
