REJOICING AS ‘TOXIC’ PLAN FOR CRUISE SHIP PORT DROPPED
CAMPAIGNERS said they were “dancing for joy” today after plans for a “toxic” London terminal for huge cruise ships were scrapped.
Investment bank Morgan Stanley, which owns the site of the proposed port at Enderby Wharf in Greenwich, said it was now looking at “revised plans” for the area that do not include a terminal.
Councillors and Mayor Sadiq Khan argued the scheme would result in 55 ships a year belching diesel fumes into residential areas. Cruise ships currently dock at Tilbury.
Activist Laura Eyres said it was “fantastic news”.
