Green is the colour for remainer Myners

-

LORD Myners, who has lent his support to the campaign for a second referendum on Brexit, was banging the drum again at the Tate Britain bash of City spin-meisters Finsbury last night, saying: “The people voted to repaint the house, they just didn’t say which colour they wanted it painting.”

Myners, who successfully fought off a hostile bid for M&S in the early Noughties from Sir Philip Green, also seems to be enjoying the present discomfort of his bête noire.

He said with some relish that “my chosen specialist subject on Mastermind would be Sir Philip Green”.

That sounds like an enlivening two minutes.

AS FOR the other movers and shakers: Spy spotted a cabal of anti-Corbynite Labour MPs in a huddle around former Blairite minister Ben Bradshaw. Plotting tactics for the meaningful vote maybe?

And on the other side of the room, a pally group included Santander chairman Shriti Vadera, Treasury Select Committee attack dog Nicky Morgan and departed Virgin Money boss Jayne-Anne Gadhia.

GADHIA, there with her husband Ash, has had quite the week: there was a trip to the Lord Mayor’s Show, a night being honoured at the Lloyds business awards (in which a selfie with her hubbie was photobombed by BBC newsreader Simon McCoy) and another selfie, with former England captain Rio Ferdinand.

The footballer, Spy hears, was attending a bash held in honour of departing BT boss Gavin Patterson attended by presenters and sports stars.

As for what Jayne did next, she tells Spy she still doesn’t know herself.

ANOTHER notable presence in the banking world was Citigroup investment banking chairman David Wormsley, known as “the worm”, who was once unsuccessfully sued by private-equity tycoon Guy Hands over his ill-fated £4.2 billion purchase of EMI.

He was in conversation with British Land boss Chris Grigg, himself an ex-Goldman banker.
