Supers bring sunshine and swish to Paris show

Kloss makes rare runway appearance for Rihanna’s favourite designer

KARLIE KLOSS arrived at Paris Fashion Week in spectacular style with a rare catwalk appearance.

Dressed in a sunshine-yellow gown, split to the thigh and cascading into an enormous floor-sweeping train, the US model and entrepreneur clutched a giant matching travel bag to her hip for the Off-White show.

She was joined by Bella Hadid, who wore a grey and yellow checkerboard-print chiffon dress, which opened from the neck to reveal high-waist briefs and ankle boots in the same pattern.

She made her catwalk appearance despite feeling unwell, having posted a picture on Instagram before the show saying she had a “101 degree [38C] fever”.

Her sister Gigi, who showcased a black wrap-around, pleated gown teamed with chunky white basketball trainers, also walked in the show.

Fo r f a n s o f O f f-W h i t e designer Virgil Abloh, the presence of such titans of the modelling world meant business as usual. A DJ and former creative director to Kanye West turned streetwear mogul — who is also artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear division — he is no stranger to generating hype.

His own label Off-White is a favourite with Rihanna, Beyoncé and Serena Williams, while its headline-grabbing collaborations with major brands such as Nike and Jimmy Choo have sold out instantly.

Fo r n ex t s e a s o n , h i s brand of elevated sportswear was driven by the world of motor racing, with chequered flag monochrome puffer coats and pitstop overalls.

Undoubtedly, it was his model finale of jaw-dropping black tie attire that will see him speeding towards the red carpet where his name is yet to make an impact.

Fast-forward an hour and Gigi Hadid was back on the catwalk, this time for Isabel Marant, with Kaia Gerber.

Hadid’s look of a khaki overshirt and cargo pants stayed true to the designer’s much-loved aesthetic. Having cultivated her insouciant Parisian style into a globally successful brand with a cult following, Marant’s new season offering updated her signatures, from colourful quilted jackets and printed power blouses to chunky statement knits and cone-heel slouch boots.

Rhinestone-encrusted sweatshirts and pinafore dresses cut from cream leather also stood out.

Marant chose the occasion to continue her expansion into menswear, first introduced for spring last year, with batik-print jeans and tailored boilersuits, hoping to tempt a whole new category of fans into the fold.
