Everton join chase for Zaha

- Simon Collngs

EVERTON are ready to rival Arsenal for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha.

The Eagles are facing a fight to keep hold of Zaha, who finished last season with 10 goals and five assists.

Arsenal have been the frontrunners to sign the 26-year-old Ivorian, who is valued by Palace at around £80million, but now Standard Sport understands Everton are also in the running.

The Toffees are due to bank around £22.5m from the sale of Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig and they are ready to reinvest that money in another winger.

Zaha is understood to be the target they have identified and Everton’s majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, has shown in the past he is willing to spend big in the transfer market.

Whether Zaha, who still has four years to run on his £130,000-a-week contract, would be tempted by a move to Goodison Park remains to be seen. Earlier this year, Zaha expressed his desire to play in the Champions League, while more recently his brother said he wanted to join Arsenal.
