Spurs offer Llorente new chance
TOTTENHAM could boost their attacking options by re-signing Fernando Llorente on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old is a free agent after his £100,000-a-week contract expired on June 30 and Spurs have offered him a new one-year deal, on reduced terms.
The Spaniard, who is not part of the club’s Far East tour, is now considering his options, with Fiorentina among the overseas clubs hoping to sign him.
The World Cup winner, who is open to a return to Spain, scored just twice in the Premier League in two seasons, following a £15million move from Swansea, but bagged crucial goals against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City in Spurs’s run to the Champions League Final.
Llorente’s brother and agent, Jesus, told Calciomercato.com: “We are receiving a lot of interest and appreciation from clubs around Europe, so we’ll see what happens.
“Fiorentina are certainly a possibility and did show interest, but other Serie A sides have also made an approach, including Lazio, Atalanta and Inter. We are glad to see he is still appreciated in Italy.”
