The initiative slips from Spurs’ grasp

-

YOU’D have to have a heart of stone not to be affected by the plight Spurs find themselves in. Well, unless you’re a West Ham or Arsenal fan, I guess.

I will always support a British team when they play in Europe, even if it’s Spurs, but I found their 7-2 loss to Bayern Munich last week hilarious. We don’t do much sport on my LBC show, but I decided to announce the result anyhow, as I knew the pleasure it would bring to so many Hammers and

Gooners. Don’t get me wrong, Spurs have some fantastic players, but this season they seem to be playing as if they’ve all just met for the first time. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, inset, is playing like his hands are covered in butter. In the 3-0 defeat against Brighton he dislocated his elbow and will be out for some time, which ordinarily would be a big blow to any team. In his case, maybe not so much. He can be a great shot-stopper but he’s the sort of keeper that not only makes the fans nervous, but also the defenders.
