No cheering for NFL lockdown

-

THE capital cheerleading for NFL at Spurs isn’t shared by Tottenham residents and traders faced with a 14-and-a-half-hour closure of the area around the stadium. The PR’s promise of fun things to do means pop-up entertainment outside your home and a pedal prohibition on closed roads. From 8am to 10.30pm.

This mass lockdown, approved by Spurs fan and Haringey council leader Joseph Ejiofor, licences firms to cast the community aside in their pursuit of profit. It kind of makes me nostalgic for when ex-leader Claire Kober approved 24-hour working to build the stadium. With hindsight we should maybe praise her for at least having a hold on the tiger’s tail.
