BARCLAYS TRIO AT OLD BAILEY OVER QATARI FUNDRAISE
THREE top former Barclays executives appeared at the Old Bailey in London today charged with fraud in one of the most significant trials to follow the financial crisis of 2008.
Roger Jenkins, Tom Kalaris and Richard Boath are accused of illegally funnelling payments to Qatar as part of a £12 billion fund-raising deal that ensured the bank did not need a UK government bail-out.
The Serious Fraud Office alleges there were £322 million of side-deals that went to Qatari investors. The three men deny the charges. They face up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.
