Son has finally signed a new four-year deal with the club.

Spurs have been in talks with the South Korean over a new deal since early last season but they were put on the back burner in the midst of the pandemic, with their finances uncertain.

Now, with new manager Nuno Espirito Santo in place, the 29-year-old has agreed terms on a deal which ties him to the club until 2025.

The new deal, should the forward see it out, will take Son’s time at Spurs to a decade.

“It was already a big honour to play here for six years,” said Son (above). “The club have showed me massive respect and I’m very happy to be here.

“It’s like home. There was no decision. It was easy. I’m so happy to be here and will be so glad to see the fans again soon.”

Spurs’s new director of football Fabio Paratici added: “Everyone can see the positive impact he [Son] has on the club.”

Son, whose partnership with Harry Kane hit new heights last season, returned to Spurs for pre-season earlier this week and scored in a 3-0 friendly win over Colchester on Wednesday night.

Spurs remain insistent they have no intention to sell Kane this summer, despite his desire to move to Manchester City.

Spurs are also set to complete the loan signing of Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta. The keeper, who has completed his medical in Milan, joins with an option to buy at the end of his season-long loan.
