HERE’S WHERE TO WATCH ON A BIG SCREEN

BATTERSEA Power Station, Hampton Court and St James’s Market are among the famous locations where Londoners can watch the Coronation live on big screens.

Hundreds of thousands are expected to descend on the capital this weekend to watch the ceremony. While areas around Westminste­r Abbey, where the Coronation will take place, Buckingham

Palace and The Mall are expected to be extremely busy, many other London landmarks are hosting big-screen showings of the day’s events so visitors do not miss out.

In west London, Hampton Court is showing a screening of the Coronation, with its gardens, maze and cafe all open to the public. South of the river, Battersea Power Station is also home to a variety of festivitie­s with a large screen erected in the park in front of the listed landmark.

Elsewhere, royal fans can hire a deck chair and watch the Coronation on big screens at St James’s Market in central London. Grosvenor Square, the Church of St Bartholome­w in Smithfield and Earl’s Court are also hosting screenings.

Meanwhile, there will be official screening sites in Holland Park and Walpole Park, both in west London, and Valence Park in Dagenham. These screens are three of the 57 funded and organised by the Department of Culture.

You can also catch the action at Hyde Park, Green Park or St James’s Park, where the day’s events will be shown on large screens.

The Coronation will take place between 11am and 1pm on Saturday. Some 2,000 people have been invited to attend the event itself at Westminste­r Abbey.
