‘Really lucky’: Kane’s children escape serious injury in car crash

- Josh Salisbury

HARRY KANE’S children were “really lucky” not to be seriously injured after being involved in a three-car crash in Germany, a fire chief said today.

Three of his children, Ivy, Vivienne and Louis, were travelling in a Mercedes van when it was in collision with a Renault car near Munich, where the England captain plays for Bayern Munich. They were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for a check-up but did not suffer any major injuries.

Kane’s wife Kate and fourth child, Henry, who was born in August, are not believed to have been in the van. The crash took place at 5.15pm on Monday after the 30-year-old striker flew to London with his team before their Champions League clash against Arsenal.

“They are fine and only went to hospital for a routine check-up,” a spokesman for Kane said. According to Bavarian police, the collision occurred when the Renault with four people inside collided with the Mercedes carrying Kane’s children, aged seven, five and three, as well as a Land Rover being driven by a woman.

Hohenschäftlarn fire department chief Daniel Buck told the BBC: “The cars had a lot of damage. The first thing that we were seeing was a lot of injured people from all the cars. The good news was nobody had really strong injuries, more minor injuries, like they have pain in the neck from the head up, normally typical for a car accident. Thank God nobody was really injured. It was really lucky for all the people.”

Police are investigating the crash and said one woman involved was taken to hospital by helicopter.

Striker Kane scored his side’s second goal in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
