Gavin gets four in win v Granite

Grove-Menzieshil­l recorded their eighth win in the men’s National Hockey Division 2 and lead by five points over St Andrews University.

Gavin Thomlinson scored four, with Ben Cosgrove and Adam Fallis getting one each, in a 6-1 win over Granite CW.

The Fife students beat AGSFP 3-1, while bottom- placed Dundee University lost 11-1 to Carnegie

Division 3 sees Perth top, with Harris second.

Results — Perthshire 2 Highland 1, Harris FP 4 Strathclyd­e Univ 3, Monarchs 3 Aberdeen University 6.

In Division 1, Kelburne, Grange and Western share top spot.

Grange beat Dundee Wanderers 6-2, whose goals were by Bobby Ralph and Paul Dailly 6-2.

Other scores — Kelburne 5 Inverleith 1, Western Wildcats 5 Gordonians 2. TOO ORGANISED In the Ladies Division 1, despite goals by Ali Bell and Linda Clement, second-placed GroveMenzi­eshill Ladies found leaders Edinburgh University too organised and lost 3-2.

Dundee Wanderers, with goals by Rachael Osborne and Heather Elder, beat GHK 2-1.

MCC Western beat CALA 7-1 and this moves the winners into second place, followed by Grove then Wanderers.

Other scores — Hillhead 3 Watsonians 2, Kelburne 1 Western Wildcats 2.

In Division 2, Dundee University lost 3-1 to Stirling University and St Andrews University went down 2-1 to Glasgow University.

Top is Inverleith with a 3-0 win over previous leaders Borders Fjordhus Reivers, now second by one point.

A depleted Monarchs team lost heavily to St Andrews Univ IV and III.

There is a full men and ladies Midland fixture list for this weekend. MIDLAND INDOOR In Midland men’s Indoor hockey at the Douglas Sports Centre, Wanderers IV move top in Division 2 with a 6-1 win over Monarchs II.

Harris III remain third, behind Wanderers III after a 6-3 win over Perthshire, who also lost 4-1 to Menzieshil­l III.

Fifteen players scored, with the Dowie family having goals from Sean (2) and Fraser for Wanderers IV, and Roy (2) for Harris III.

Thursday games are — 8.15pm Harris III v Monarchs II, 8.50 Menzieshil­l IV v Monarchs II, 9.25 Wanderers III v Menzieshil­l IV.

Teams in Division 3 should note they start, a week earlier, on Tuesday, December 9.

There is no play on December 30.

The Midland Ladies Indoor is tonight from 7pm at the Douglas Sports Centre. SCOTTISH INDOOR The Scottish Indoor season starts on December 13 and the opening game is in the men’s Division 1 at 10am at Bell’s Main Hall, Grove Menzieshil­l v Dundee Wanderers.

Divisions 2 and 3 also play on the 13th and the ladies Divisions 1 and 2 start the following day with Dundee Wanderers v Aberdeen Bon Accord at Forthbank in Stirling as the opener.
