Man’s injuries are ‘life threatening’

- BY WILL LYoN

A MAN who was found seriously injured in a Dundee street remains in a lifethreatening condition today as police continue their efforts to establish his identity.

The casualty was found seriously injured in Charleston Drive, near the junction of Spey Drive.

The man, who is aged between 50 and 60 years old, was discovered at around 6.30pm yesterday.

Witnesses described seeing him fall over several times before medical aid was requested for him.

Today, Police Scotland said he remains in a critical condition at Ninewells Hospital.

But the force admitted they have ‘no clue’ who the man is as they work to find out his identity.

Telecommunications engineer Gregor Stefanski, 41, said he came back to his flat on Charleston Drive at about 8pm last night.

He said: “The forensics people were taking photos of a bush and the area around the flats was all taped off.

“A police officer escorted me to my flat and told me to stay away from the grass and keep on the path.

“I think it must have been about 9pm that the police left the area.

“It was all over pretty quickly. They took their pictures and then they took the tape away. The injured person was found next to the bush apparently.

“The officer said to me it was looking ‘very grim’ for the person. I didn’t see them because they had been taken to the hospital.

“I don’t think the person was attacked going by what the policeman was saying. “I hope the person recovers.” A police statement said: “The male is described as 50 to 60 years old, medium build and was wearing a dark jacket and a black ‘tammy’ with a red band around it.

“Circumstances surrounding the male’s injuries appear non-suspicious.

“The unidentified male was conveyed to Ninewells Hospital, where his condition is described as serious.

“Anyone who may have seen the male in the area, or have any idea of who the male might be, is requested to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2868.

“His injuries are life-threatening and police have no clue as to his identity at this time.”
