Bucket Trail skyrockets as folk rush to get selfie with Wullie

- BY JAMES SIMPSON

THE first week of the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail has been a resounding success as folk clamber for photographs with the iconic comic character.

The 55 sculptures have been snapped hundreds of times and have now become part of a viral video which has racked up thousands of views and has been given the seal of approval from British astronaut Major Tim Peake. The video, which features Tim Peake lookalikes exploring the bucket trail, is proving to be a stellar hit with viewers after the video was launched four days ago. Created by Volpa, the firm sponsoring the Astro Wullie sculpture, it is accompanied by a customised version of David Bowie’s Space Oddity, encouraging the astronaut to “take a trip to Dundee’s Bucket Trail...it’ll really make our day.”

Volpa managing director Tricia Fox said: “We’re starry-eyed to be part of Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trail and, judging by the people doing the Bucket Trail and the fact that the video is rocketing to success, the public is just as excited as we are.”

WE want to see all your selfies with the wee scamps across the city in the next 10 weeks!

You can send us your snaps by posting them directly to our FB & Twitter pages, or by using the hashtag #oorselfie.

We will pick some of the most eyecatching images and display them in the Evening Telegraph every Tuesday throughout the trail. What’s more, we will randomly circle one of these selfies to be the lucky recipient of a cheeky £50 every week — so what are you waiting for?

There’s another £100 plus an Oor Wullie Bucket of goodies up for grabs for the first person to whip around all 55 sculptures and send us photo evidence.

You can send your 55bucketchallenge pics straight to our e-mail ETPromotions@ eveningtelegraph.co.uk
