Dee strike force lethal — Hartley
PREMIERSHIP rivals beware, Paul Hartley reckons he’s managed to make Dundee’s already potent forward line even more lethal.
And it’s all down to his work in this summer’s transfer market.
The gaffer believes that the addition of Michael Duffy from Celtic, as well as Dutchman Yordi Teijsse and Danny Williams, will make the Dees’ attacking unit — who netted more than 45 goals between them i n 2015/16 — even more frightening.
“I feel we have a real attacking threat this season,” said the gaffer.
“Even more so than we did last year.
“We are a team who like to play on the front f oot. We have good attacking options at this club now.
“When you think we still have Kano (Kane Hemmings) to come back into the team that has faced Alloa and Dumbarton.
“We are happy with the players we have in those areas ahead of the season.”
On Duffy, who netted within 10 minutes of making his Dundee debut at former club Alloa, Paul reckons he’s added an attacking gem.
“I was pleased with his debut, knowing the fact he will get better. He will improve,” said Paul. “It was a good start for him. “I thought he took up some great positions. His play was really bright, sharp and positive.
“He’s a player who showed how bright he is. He can put us on the front foot.
“He wants to take men on, you could see that with his goal there. He gives us another option, a very good one, too.”
With Hemmings yet to kick a ball in anger this summer, it has been down to the other attackers to stake their claim. Rory Loy has looked sharp, Greg Stewart a leaner, meaner prospect, Danny Williams has slotted in seamlessly and Craig Wighton has shown in flashes just how good he can be.
One player who is yet to set the heather alight is Teijsse.
Paul is not at all worried about his impact so far. He accepts it will take a little more time for Teijsse to settle into senior football.
“It’s not easy coming from a different country, fitting into a new team with a new style,” said Paul. “The culture on and off the field is also something he will have to adapt to.
“He will get better as the days go on, I have no worries about that.”
