Tigers hope for Sunday success

-

DUNDEE Tigers play host to Edinburgh Capitals in Scottish National League action this Sunday (6.30pm) at Dundee Ice Arena.

The home team will be looking to build on a solid performance that earned them a 5-5 draw against North Ayrshire Wild last weekend when they face one of the perennial league title contenders.

A Tigers spokesperson said “We’ve got an interesting challenge ahead of us this weekend.

“On paper the Capitals look to be the same squad that has finished in the top two of the table for the past three seasons.

“However, their early results have been poor by their standards, including a heavy loss in the Scottish Cup last weekend.

“We’ve got to prepare to face the slick, fast-paced team we’ve seen previously and can’t read too much into the scores we’ve seen.

“The mood in our dressing-room is positive after a hard fought draw last weekend.

“The guys really showed great character to pull the game back with just 20 seconds to go.

“Our new players performed well including an absolutely outstanding show from Ben Macfalane that earned him the Man of the Match award on his club debut.

“We do have some injury concerns, however, and will be without our talismanic captain Paul Guilcher.

“However, the team we have on the ice will be ready to give 100% and compete for every puck. in what will, hopefully, be an entertaining game and one we will win.”
