Good win then loss for Flyers

-

FIFE Flyers ended a four goal losing streak when they defeated Coventry Blaze 4-1 in Kirkcaldy on Saturday.

However, they proceeded to give up a 4-1 second period lead in Murrayfield last night when Edinburgh Capitals hit five in the final stanza to inflict a 6-4 defeat on the Fifers.

Against Blaze, Flyers took the lead in seven minutes with a powerplay goal from Russ Moyer but, less than one minute later, Ashley Tait levelled the game for Coventry.

In 30 minutes, Ryan Dingle restored the lead for the home side. Two minutes later, the same player hit a back hander into the net to give Fife a 3-1 advantage going into the final period.

Flyers wrapped up the points in 46 minutes when Sebastien Thinel netted to give them a 4-1 win to halt their run of four losses.

In Murrayfield, Capitals and Flyers squandered chances for an early lead. However, the breakthrough came with two minutes remaining in the period. Edinburgh’s McDougall was given two minutes for interference and, on the powerplay, Flyers went ahead through Ryan Dingle.

Fife increased their lead early in the second session with a goal from Sisca.

However, Capitals soon responded when Vorobyev scored on the powerplay with Paquet sitting out a two minute minor.

Flyers responded when Schaber made it 3-1 in 27 minutes. One minute later, Sisca added his second of the game for a 4-1 lead.

Two minutes into the final period, Capitals pulled a goal back when Tipoff scored.

Just a minute later, the home side were right back in the game when Wilgosh brought the score back to 4-3 against.

Edinburgh were in command and levelled in 47 minutes when Tipoff netted his second goal.

Fife were under pressure and it was no surprise when the home took the lead. It was Schultz who netted after work behind the net from Staal.

Edinburgh’s Dobron received two minutes for delay of the game and Flyers pulled netminder Fallon to give them a six on four. However, Vorobyev sealed the win with an empty net goal for a 6-4 scoreline.
