Kane very able as Swanson sets Saints on way

-

ST JOHNSTONE continued their great start to the season with a 2-0 away win over Ross County.

The result keeps Saints fourth in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Danny Swanson netted his eighth goal of the season, and his fifth spotkick, when he gave Saints the lead from the penalty spot and Chris Kane, who was brought down by Jay McEveley for the penalty, made it 2-0.

It was Kane’s second goal of the season, his first being against Brechin City at Glebe Park in the League Cup.

Speaking about Kane earlier, Saints team boss Tommy Wright said: “Chris is a good player who works hard and has shown he can score goals.”

The Perth team now hope the youngster can kick on and add more goals.

Just as pleased as he was with the fact his team scored twice and came away with three points from a difficult venue, Tommy was happy with another clean sheet.

In their last five games, Saints haven’t conceded in three and it was their sixth clean sheet overall this campaign.

Tommy said: “That was a very satisfying performance.

“The first half was as good as we have been. We were excellent.

“Ross County didn’t have any clear-cut chances and we finished things with a great goal.

“We were in total control throughout.

“We have done well on the road. We won at Motherwell, we won at Partick and got a point at Hamilton. Now we have won at Ross County.”

Meanwhile, Saints’ Development League side face Motherwell at home tonight. Kick-off is 6pm.
