A MAN involved in a “love triangle” who played a part in subjecting a pregnant Dundee woman to three days of terror is appealing his sentence.

Roderick Cuthbert, 38, was jailed for 15 months after admitting repeatedly shouting, swearing and acting aggressively towards Chantelle Murray, of Fintry, between January 26 and 29 this year.

Jennifer McIlravey, who Dundee Sheriff Court heard was Cuthbert’s girlfriend at the time, was jailed for nine months for assaulting Ms Murray during the same three-day period.

The court heard that the incidents took place when McIlravey found out Ms Murray was about 10 weeks pregnant with Cuthbert’s baby.

Previously, Ms Murray said that she later went on to lose her baby following the ordeal.

The three had been staying together at a flat in the city’s Strathmartine Road area after Ms Murray had ended a relationship.

In an interview with the Tele, Ms Murray said she had to climb out of a first-floor window to escape McIlravey and Cuthbert.

At the time she said: “They were totally getting their kicks out of it. “They acted like absolute animals.” To escape the pair Ms Murray said she locked herself i n the bathroom of the flat and had to squeeze through a tiny window — described as being “like a cat flap” — to escape.

Ms Murray claimed she then fell to the ground from the first floor.

She said she was “absolutely petrified” and feared she would have ended up being killed if she hadn’t managed to get away.

In court, Sheriff Tom Hughes told Cuthbert: “You have an appalling record and there are no signs you are trying to change your ways.”

Afterwards, Ms Murray spoke of her relief that they were “going to jail for it”.

Cuthbert was also sentenced for stealing medical items on January 27.

And he admitted damaging an electricity meter and stealing electricity between July 14 last year and January 29.

Cuthbert’s appeal is set to take place at t he Sheriff Appeal Court i n Edinburgh on December 14.

Ms Murray said she wasn’t aware of the appeal when contacted for comment by the Evening Telegraph.
