ROUND-UP Kettledrum march on

DSMFL team see off Paisley visitors in nine-goal thriller

-

FC KETTLEDRUM secured their spot in the fifth-round draw of the Foster’s Scottish Cup after a nine-goal thriller at Lochee Park.

The DSMFL team saw off the wellregarded Paisley outfit Ferguslie Star 5-4 in an end-to-end tussle.

’Drum are in knockout action again this weekend in the North of Tay Cup with a trip through to take on Perthshire high-flyers Fair City.

Meanwhile, in the North of Tay, second-round scalp of the day award went to Second Division outfit FC Menzieshill, who put out last season’s finalists Douglas Athletic 4-3.

In their first season in the DSMFL, the Mennies boys raced into a four-goal lead. However, they had to endure a spirited fightback from Douglas, who pulled three goals back with 10 minutes to play.

Hilltown Hotspurs and Riverside CSC made short work of their Perthshire opponents.

Hilltown saw off Craigie 5-1 after conceding early, while Riverside CSC made the trip to Rattray worthwhile with a 4-0 win.

Three DSMFL teams went out in extra-time.

Nine-man Lochee FC went down 1-0 to Auchterarder Primrose after the game finished goalless in regulation time.

Stobswell AFC and Hawkhill Athletic both went down 7-5 after extra time against Kinrossie Caledonia and Invergowrie respectively.

Doc’s Hibs’ trip to Bridge of Earn ended poorly with a 1-0 defeat, though heading through with a bare squad of 11 did them no favours.

Ferry Mechanics went down 3-2 to Poleteam Perth, and Stobswell Athletic lost out 6-1 to St James.
