Dee bring festive cheer at Ninewells

-

CHRISTMAS is a tough period in the children’s ward at Ninewells but Dundee players and staff were on hand to spread some festive cheer.

There were smiles all round as patients in the children’s ward — as well as surgical ward, outpatient clinics and general medical wards — got the chance to meet their favourite Dens Park players.

Fans around the hospital had the opportunity to get autographs and pose for photographs as the players brought round the Christmas gifts.

Play specialist at Tayside Children’s Hospital, Una Paton, said: “We are always grateful to the Dundee team for coming in to visit us for Christmas.

“The patients love to see them and it really helps lift their spirits and makes them feel special during what can be a difficult time.

“The players are great with the children and always make them smile, and the gifts are really appreciated, too.

“On behalf of all patients and staff in Tayside Children’s Hospital, I’d like to thank the team for taking the time to come and brighten up our day.”

Head of Nursing for Medicine and Cardiovascular, Rachel Haddock, added: “I’d like to thank the players from Dundee Football Club, who took time out of their day for visiting patients in the wards.

“Patients can find it really difficult at this time of year when ill and in hospital.

“This really cheered the patients up and shows a real community spirit from the Dundee players and staff.”

A spokesman for Dundee FC said: “We were absolutely delighted to take in the visit to the hospital.

“The annual Christmas visit is one of the most rewarding things our players and club take part i n throughout the year.”
