Flyers flying at weekend

-

FIFE Flyers took four points from two excellent wins against Manchester Storm and Nottingham Panthers this weekend.

In the game against Manchester, Flyers took the lead after six minutes with a shorthanded goal from Brendan Brooks with Josh Scoon sitting out a two-minute penalty.

The home side doubled their lead after 28 minutes with a powerplay goal from Chase Schaber but, less than one minute later, Storm pulled a goal back through Jack Prince.

The visitors drew level with a goal from Cody Cartier.

Fifteen seconds into the final session, Matt Sisca gave Fife a 3-2 lead but Storm equalised through Darian Dziurzynski to complete the scoring and take the game into sudden death overtime where Rik Jackman won the game for Fife.

Last night in Nottingham, Panthers took the lead after 12 minutes when Brian McGrattan opened the scoring.

Fife levelled the game in the second period with a powerplay goal after 32 minutes after Nottingham’s Eric Lindhagen on a twominute interference penalty.

Alex Nikiforuk restored the home side’s lead just three minutes into the final period but the Fifers hit back through Brendan Brooks in the 49th minute to tie the game at 3-3.

There was no further scoring as the game went to overtime, which also failed to produce a winner.

Justin Fox then sealed the points for Flyers with the winning penalty in a penalty shootout, to give them a four-point weekend.
