Buddies drawn with East Fife as Caley play Celtic

-

BARRY Smith’s East Fife were handed a good chance to make the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup after being drawn at home to Championship strugglers St Mirren yesterday.

The in-form Fifers, led by the former Tele man and Dundee captain, saw off runaway League 1 leaders Livingston on Saturday, while the Buddies caused the upset of the fourth round by beating Dundee.

Championship side Dunfermline will also fancy their chances in a home tie with Hamilton, while Raith Rovers stand in the way of a possible Edinburgh derby.

Rovers netted a late equaliser against Hearts at Stark’s Park yesterday with the winners of Wednesday’s replay hosting holders Hibs.

St Johnstone will have Partick Thistle as visitors, with Aberdeen making the trip to Dingwall to take on Ross County.

Celtic and Rangers were both handed home ties by Sir Rod Stewart, who made the draw after the Hoops’ win over Albion Rovers at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium yesterday.

Celtic will play Inverness — the only side to have taken points off them domestically this season — while Jim Duffy’s Morton visit Ibrox.

Full draw: Ayr United or Queen’s Park v Stirling Albion or Clyde.

Celtic v Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Dunfermline Athletic v Hamilton. East Fife v St Mirren. Raith Rovers or Hearts v Hibernian. Rangers v Greenock Morton. Ross County v Aberdeen. St Johnstone v Partick Thistle. Ties to be played February 11-12.
