Stars confirm Elite status

-

AFTER a constructive meeting of the 12 Elite Ice Hockey League teams, Dundee CCS Stars have confirmed they are preparing for the new season ahead.

Plans were put in place and accepted that would see Stars as one of the 12 competing in next season’s league campaign. The club are to hold a management meeting early next week to confirm their position.

The club will then host a meeting with the fans later in the week to discuss ways to take the organisation forward and will also keep the fans informed of further developments that may occur over the next few days.

The Elite League have announced changes to the league and Challenge Cup format as a result of the addition of Milton Keynes Lightning and Guildford Flames.

Changes to the structure were ratified at an EIHL board meeting which sees the previous two Conference system of five teams each replaced with three Conferences, containing four teams apiece.

Dundee Stars, Braehead Clan, Edinburgh Capitals and Fife Flyers come together to form Conference One.

The Challenge Cup also has the same format but teams’ opposition will be altered from previous years in each group.

The knockout stages will still begin from the quarter-finals, with the top two teams in each group qualifying for the last eight, with two of the three third-placed teams going through on a wild card format.
