Chairman salutes Arabs

-

DUNDEE United chairman Stephen Thompson has thanked Arabs for keeping their team comfortably in the top 10 of the best-supported outfits in the country.

Despite dropping down a division for this season, with an average of over 6,000 per game at Tannadice the Tangerines remain sixth in the rankings when it comes to home support.

“Throughout the whole campaign, the team have received fantastic backing from you,” the chairman said in a statement to the fans.

“Week in, week out, you have demonstrated your passion for United in impressive numbers both home and away.

“The fact that our average crowd at Tannadice remains the sixth best in the country is down to the loyalty shown by you, and I thank you for that support.

“We have welcomed 113,409 fans through the turnstiles for Championship games this season, an average of 6,671, and it shows just how much our home support has remained incredibly loyal and supportive.”

SPFL rules regarding entry to play-off ties mean tomorrow’s final home clash with Dumbarton is the last for which season tickets are valid.

United, though, have opened discussions on capping admission prices with the other clubs likely to be involved in the play-offs.

“The focus is now fully on the play-offs. We are currently in discussion with the other clubs i nvolved regarding pricing, and we will announce details in due course once agreed,” Thompson added.

As well as thanking fans, the chairman also paid tribute to corporate customers, 95% of whom have continued to do business with United over the course of this season.
