Event staged for older people

-

OLDER community actors from Dundee Rep invited people aged 55 and over to explore their creative abilities and try out their theatre skills as part of Dundee Mental Health Awareness Week.

Organised in partnership with locally-based support group Heart Tay Heart, “The Beautiful People in (out and shake it all about) Klozet” event was designed to encourage older people, especially those from the LGBT community, to try out fun drama techniques and meet new faces at Klozet bar in Dundee.

The event was led by Beautiful People, Dundee Rep’s company for people over the age of 55.

The group has 20 members in Dundee who meet on a weekly basis at the Rep.

It was created in 2015 for Luminate, Scotland’s creative ageing festival which takes place across Scotland in October.

Suzi Morrice, of Dundee Rep’s creative learning team, said: “Participating in drama can be hugely positive for a person’s mental wellbeing.”
