Events on college proposals
TWO public events are to be held to showcase plans for a new Madras College.
Fife Council is to stage consultations on June 1 and 2 for plans to develop the new north east Fife secondary school at Langlands on the outskirts of the town.
The two events have been listed as part of a Proposal of Application Notice, as the local authority begins the process of submitting a formal planning application for the new school.
Currently playing fields used by St Andrews University, councillors previously agreed the university-owned site should be the favoured location for the £50 million replacement secondary, subject to an option agreement with the university.
After years of wrangling, the latest proposal should see the exchange of the current South Street campus for Langlands, together with a payment of £2.5m to the university.
In return the university will fully ser vice the 18-acre site at Langlands to include the provision of a new access road.
