Bin collections delay
FIFE Council is working to catch up on refuse collections after an “extraordinary number” of its bin lorries broke down.
Some residents were advised to leave unemptied bins outside so waste could be collected the following day.
The local authority apologised to householders for any inconvenience caused and said normal bin collection services would be restored as soon as possible.
Service manager Martin Kingham said: “We had a spike in vehicle breakdowns which resulted in a backlog of work rolling forward.
“Our fleet availability is back to normal and our teams are now working to reduce the backlog and restore normal service.”
