X-ray system is improving service

-

PATIENTS being treated for breast cancer are benefiting from new specialist diagnostic equipment at Perth Royal Infirmary.

The Faxitron BioVision machine is a portable x-ray system used to examine tissue specimens from biopsies taken from patients with suspected breast cancer. The equipment means surgeons can x-ray tissue during a surgical procedure, rather than having to send it on to the radiology department.

The equipment was purchased after former patients and their friends and family raised funds for the Tayside Health Fund to go towards improving service in breast care.
