ROUND-UP Big Forfarshir­e score but they still lose game

THE cricket season started at the weekend.

Forfarshir­e, at home against Aberdeensh­ire, lost the toss, batted first and lost by five wickets after scoring 340-4.

Callum Garden and Matthew Parker went in to open against a strong bowling attack. Garden went on to score 90 and Parker 87.

Rory Johnston made 68 not out and Umair Mohammed scored 45.

Aberdeensh­ire’s Ngoepe scored 109 not out, Venske scored 99, Reid got 69 and the rest of the team chipped in for victory.

Arbroath won by four wickets at home to Falkland.

The Fifers’ innings ended at 160-7. Paul and Surry hit 33 runs with Arbroath’s Ramsey taking 4-21.

Arbroath’s McLean scored 49, Ford made 34 and Falkalnd’s Paul took 6-43.

Glenrothes beat Carlton at home.

The Fifers made 249-9, Culley scoring 91, Justus 46. Everett took 3-52 and Herdman 2-30.

Carlton were 206 all out with Shazad taking 4-42 with Mohale taking 3-25.

Grange won at home to Heriot’s who scored 247-8.

The visitors Watt made 108, Ross made 64 while Grange’s Goudie took 3-36 and Tapper took 3-48.

Grange’s McCallum made 80 and Budge made 52 not out in their 248-5. They won by five wickets.

In the Strathmore Union, Forfarshir­e 2nd XI lost by six runs away to Mannofield.

Mannofield’s Dickenson notched 66 not out and Anderson scored 47 in their 221-6.

Forfarshir­e went into bat with Rennie making 67 and Hogarth 43.

Gordonians played Strathmore at home. Strathmore batted first and were 84 all out in 27.1 overs. Gordonians chased it down in 29.5 overs for the loss of six wickets.

Meigle, at home to Arbroath, won by 32 runs.

The home lot made 138, Farmer scoring 47, with Arbroath’s Christie taking 4-18 and Rosie 4-32.

Arbroath’s Plomer scored 33, with Meigle’s Farmer taking 4-17 and Morrison 2-13.
