Fixture clash on the cards

-

DUNDEE United are set to give the SPFL a play-off fixture schedule headache.

The Tangerines missed out on the chance to l eapfrog Falkirk into second place in the Championship when both teams drew at the weekend.

It leaves United third and, if they remain there after S a t u rd ay ’s final game at Morton, next week’s play-off quarter-final against the Ton looks likely to be moved.

Ray McKinnon’s men would have home advantage in the second leg, which has been pencilled in for the same time on Saturday week as city neighbours Dundee are due to h o s t R o s s C o u n t y. I t ’s understood United and Dundee have alerted the league and the situation is being looked at.

It may see both legs of the United-Morton clash switched. The Cappielow game may be brought forward to tomorrow week with the return taking place the following Friday.

Delaying the second leg by 24 hours is another option but that would give the winners less recovery ti me before facing Falkirk, who as runners-up would have had a 10-day break before their first play-off involvement.
