Scot Alan nets for Britain

IN Malaysia at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup, the Great Britain squad started with a 2-2 draw against India who were twice in the lead.

GB equalised twice, through Tom Carson (25 minutes) and Alan Forsyth (52 minutes).

In their second game, GB had a 5-3 win over Japan. Scorers were Barry Middleton, David Goodfellow, Sam Ward and again both Carson and Forsyth, the only Scot in the squad.

Scotland’s men’s head coach Derek Forsyth is the GB assistant coach for this event.

GB now play Malaysia today then Australia tomorrow and New Zealand on Friday with the final placing games on Saturday.

MIDLAND District acting secretary Martin Boag, is reminding officials that all reports for the AGM should have been with him by now.

Dates for AGMs include Midland on May 8 (7pm) in Dundee West Church Hall, Harris FP on May 13 (10am) at the same venue.

The Scottish AGM is at HQ in Glasgow on June 10 (11.30am). Nomination­s for president and vicepresid­ent are required by May 19.

THERE is life in the old dogs yet with Scotland’s men’s O/60, O/65 and O/70 squads starting their season at the annual Celtic Cup competitio­ns in Cork at the weekend.

Perthshire’s Gordon Loudon features in the O/65s.

The Cork event is followed with Home Internatio­nals at Swansea in June then Scotland hosts the Grand Masters European Cup in Glasgow from August 19-27.

FORMER Scotland internatio­nal player Sam Judge, player-coach with Edinburgh University, has joined the Scottish Ladies coaching team. Sam made her internatio­nal debut in 1999 and has played in three consecutiv­e Commonweal­th Games.
