Doctor to deliver last lecture

ACCIDENT and emergency doctor and television presenter Dr Saleyha Ahsan will return to her alma mater t o deliver Dundee University’s final Saturday Evening Lecture of the year.

Dr Ahsan graduated from t h e u n i v e rs i t y ’s school of medicine in 2006 after serving with t he Royal Army Medical Corps in Bosnia.

She was the first British Muslim woman to graduate from the royal military academy Sandhurst as an Army officer.

As well as her work in A&E, Dr Ahsan has forged a career in television, having appeared on Trust Me I’m A Doctor and the One Show.

During the lecture, which takes place in the Dalhousie Building on Saturday, Dr Ahsan will discuss her time at Dundee and its influence on her career.

She said: “My favourite part of studying medicine at Dundee was the opportunit­ies to learn in an innovative way.

“My ti me i n Dundee allowed me to discover who I was, form my ideas and give me the confidence to think I could fulfil my ambitions. Nowhere since has had the same impact.”
