Tierney shrugs off speculation

-

KIERAN Tierney insists it will be easy t o i gnore summer speculation over his future — because he is happy and committed to improving at Celtic Park.

The left-back has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United but has four years left on his contract at Celtic.

The 19-year-old said: “You see stuff in the papers and on Twitter, people telling you and my friends as well, but I just need to concentrate on what I’m doing i n training and playing well for Celtic.

“It’s easy for me because I’m happy where I am.

“I’m not thinking about anything else other than Celtic and just doing what I can for the team and helping us win every game.”

Tierney collected the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award on Sunday for t he second season running, beating 32-goal striker Moussa Dembele despite missing three months of the campaign through injury.

And he is confident he can continue to improve under manager Brendan Rodgers and his coaching staff.

“At the end of training every day me and John Kennedy will either do passing, crossing, weak foot, j ust my all-round game, trying to get better at everything,” he said.

“There is always room for improvement, especially me being so young.

“I’ve still got a lot to learn in the game and I’m working under a great manager and, hopefully, I can do that.

“You have seen what he has done this season and that’s him working with us for eight or nine months.

“It’s been remarkable what we have achieved this year and, hopefully, we can end the season on a high.”
