Hibs back in for on-form Murray

-

PREMIERSHIP new boys Hibs have renewed their interest in Dundee United striker Simon Murray.

Early this season the Tele revealed the Easter Road outfit had two attempts to land the 25-year-old knocked back during the August transfer window.

With Murray out of contract t h i s s u m m e r, Hibees boss Neil Lennon has launched a third attempt to get hold of him.

But he will face competition from several other clubs, not least United who are keen to hang on to their in-form marksman.

Murray’s equaliser in the play-off win at Falkirk last Friday was his 18th goal of the season with four of these coming in the four play-offs fixtures.

If that scoring form continues, it could get the Tangerines back t o t he Premiership this weekend and see him offered a lucrative deal to stay at Tannadice.

And he’s stated already this term his preference would be a new deal with his home-town outfit.

He will, though, not lack for options if he decides to move on and both Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock have also been tracking him.

Jags boss Alan Archibald did watch him score as United beat Morton at Tannadice in their play-off quar ter-final the week before last.

Abroad could also be an option for the former Arbroath man.

Back in J a n u a r y, Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol saw a £40,000 bid rejected.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle were also keen around that time but their relegation to the Championship last weekend means they can no longer be considered serious contenders.

A number of scouts will watch Murray play against Hamilton tomorrow.
