Poetry anthology to boost Asbestos Action Tayside

-

A DUNDEE poet has released a new collection of her work for charity.

The limited series of Anna MacDonald’s anthology of poems — As We Talk — has gone on sale in aid of city-based charity Asbestos Action Tayside.

Anna is well known throughout Dundee for her poems about life in and language of the City of Discovery.

The Tele previously told how her husband Cliff Inglis — with whom she formed the popular variety double act The Temperance Two — was recently the subject of a documentary about asbestosrelated cancer.

Cliff, 79, has worked closely with Asbestos Action Tayside, who have helped him greatly during his battle with mesothelioma — a terminal cancer brought on by exposure to asbestos.

The charity offers emotional and practical support to those sufferings from an asbestos-related illness, as well as their families.

Cliff’s starring role in the film, created by Dundee and Angus College students, was shown earlier this year at the Kingsway campus.

As a “thank you” to the charity, 84-year-old Anna is donating all proceeds of her collection of work to Asbestos Action Tayside.

Copies of the book are on sale at the Oxfam shop in the city’s Reform Street.

Anna said: “This is a new anthology of some of my poems that I’ve written throughout the years.

“I wanted to say a wee ‘thank you’ to Asbestos Action for what they’ve done.

“I’m not looking to make any money from it, I just thought it would be a good thing to let them have the money for all the help that they’ve given. People can buy it at the Oxfam shop in the Reform Street and I’d be very grateful to them.”
