to traffic flow in Lochee High Street in a bid to improve the fortunes of businesses in the area.

This follows the closure of the Santander bank as well as proposals by Superdrug to potentially shut its High Street branch. The Tele recently revealed the results of a survey carried out by the group, which asked people if they felt parking in and around Lochee High Street had improved the environment for business and residents — 68 people said no and four said yes.

Jayne added: “We absolutely agree that parking has to be addressed but that might be better served with a new car park outwith the High Street.

“Some of the car parks right now simply aren’t suitable for people with mobility issues. The surfaces on them are terrible.

“I think a lot of people would be quite happy to park away from the High Street if it meant they had a good quality car park to go to.

“That’s something that I think they should be looking towards in the future.

“For the moment, though, it seems that they’re listening to us and it shows what a community campaign can do.”

Councillor Ross previously said early discussions had been held over removing the loading bays and introducing parking meters.

The SNP politician said he had taken on board the concerns of traders and residents.
