Saints duo miss out once more

-

BRIAN Easton and Steven Anderson are once again missing from the St Johnstone ranks through injury for tomorrow’s home friendly against Sunderland (2pm).

The pair are on their way back, though, and should resume training next week.

Sunderland have dropped down from t he Premier League and have a new manager in Simon Grayson, so Saints face a tough task.

With a month until their opening Premiership match away to Kilmarnock, the Perth men have been busy arranging friendly fixtures following their early exit from the Europa League.

They will meet Rangers in a closed-door game next midweek and will play home friendlies against yet-to-benamed opposition on July 22 and 29.

There will be chances for some of Saints’ young players again during these games.

Manager Tommy Wright is pleased at how his youngsters are coming on.

“In the Europa League matches against FK Trakai, we had seven players under the age of 25 with four being 22 or under.

“They have earned the right to be in the team.”

One of those players is Scott Tanser, who has recently j oined up after spells at Rochdale and Port Vale.

Tommy added: “I’m really pleased with the way Scott has fitted in and he will get better.”

Tommy also remarked the club’s U/17 side, which has lost only once in the last two years, has done so well that eight have been placed in the U/20 squad.

Meanwhile, Saints have taken Paris St Germain’s Romain Habran (21) on trial.

The French midfielder has scored six ti mes i n 32 games for their B team as well as netting while on trial at Sochaux. He has five French U/20 caps.
