Police probe after teen’s nose broken
POLICE in Dundee are on the hunt for a man who launched an unprovoked attack on a teenager and left him with a broken nose.
The incident took place at Albert Square in the city centre.
Police said the attack left the 18-yearold victim “shaken”.
The thug — who was unknown to the victim — is said to have repeatedly punched the teenager in an unprovoked attack.
The Tele understands that, following the attack, the teen required hospital treatment for a broken nose and facial lacerations.
It is also understood that the incident took place after the victim — who had been on a night out — had left McDonalds in Reform Street.
The teenager was making his way home when he was accosted and subsequently attacked by the man, who was in the company of a woman at the time of the incident.
The attack took place in the early hours of the morning.
A spokesman for Police Scotland appealed for information from members of the public who may have witnessed the incident in order to track down the culprit who carried out the assault.
He said: “Police Scotland can confirm it is making inquiries into an assault which happened at the taxi rank in Albert Square.
“The incident took place at around 2.20am on Sunday. The complainer was punched repeatedly in an unprovoked attack by a man who was not known to him.”
The spokesman told the Evening Telegraph that officers are on the hunt for a man who is described as 6ft, with brown hair and stubble.
He added: “The complainer suffered minor facial injuries in the attack, and was left understandably shaken.”
The police spokesman called for locals to come forward with information.
He said: “If anyone has any information which can assist with inquiries, please call or speak to any police officer.”
Police have advised anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on 101 using the crime reference number CR23044/17.
