Jags boss Archibald targets long-awaited win

-

ALAN Archibald says it’s time his Partick Thistle side finally put some points on the board.

The Jags have had a nightmare start to the new Ladbrokes Premiership campaign after losing each of their first four games.

The fixture list certainly did the Firhill men few favours with a tricky opening run of matches against Hibernian, Celtic, St Johnstone and Aberdeen.

But they now travel north to face Ross County in Dingwall tomorrow and Archibald is targeting a long-awaited win.

He wants Thistle to put their disappointment behind them and focus on climbing up the table like they did last year, when they launched a festive-period surge which took them from bottom spot to the club’s highest finish in 36 years as they eventually booked a place in the top six.

Archibald said: “We’re looking forward to getting back at it.

“We’re desperate to get a victory and the international break came when we were looking to get back down to business, so that was frustrating.

“Morale has been fine. The lads are a good bunch and have been here before. We’ve got a good mix of youth and experience and there is enough quality in the dressing-room to see us through this. We can draw on the experience of last season when we went through a similar run at the start but bounced back.

“The good thing is we’re still in touching distance with the rest of the teams round about us.

“Tomorrow is the perfect opportunity with County only being three points in front of us and that gives us a chance to claw our way back. Hopefully, we can do that.”
