Wright’s sights on next target

-

ST JOHNSTONE have quickly reached their first points target of the season — and boss Tommy Wright wants to get to the second one as soon as possible.

Saints have t aken 10 points from four games with wins against Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Partick Thistle and a draw against Celtic, which saw the Northern Irishman win the Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month award for August and on-loan attacker Michael O’Halloran earn the Player of the Month accolade after notching four league goals.

St Johnstone host Hibs tomorrow i n t heir first fixture following the international break and Wright is already looking to double the Perth side’s points tally.

“I always work in blocks,” he said.

“We’ve got to 10 points in four games which is good.

“So that will be the aim in this next group of games to try to get to 20 points as quickly as possible.

“As a group, we don’t look upon it as if we have done anything yet.

“We have made a good start but it certainly means we don’t take our foot off the pedal.

“We need to keep working hard and doing the things that got us those 10 points.

“We know over the course of the season what you need to get into the top six.

“You probably have to look at 15 points every third so we have made a good start.

“However, the fact is that we want to get to 10 then 20 as quickly possible, so we focus on the next game.

“It is a simplistic way to look at it but an effective way to look at it.”

Saints are again without the injured Blair Alston for the Hibs game.
