ROUND-UP Fox signs up for Stars

Ex-Flyers forward will be ‘a great help’ to Dundee side

-

FORMER Fife Flyers’ forward Justin Fox has signed for Dundee Stars for the remainder of the 2017-18 Elite Ice Hockey League season.

The 30-year-old Canadian joins from Kalamazoo Wings in North America’s ECHL after having spent the last two seasons with Fife Flyers.

During his time in Kirkcaldy, Fox amassed 97 points from his 99 games. He also had a spell in Australia with Perth Thunder.

Stars coach Omar Pacha is delighted with his new aquisition and said: “Obviously we are not happy with our offensive play at the moment and Justin adds skill. He also adds scoring, he has a great work ethic and is a guy I can lean on to produce offensively.

“He is a player with experience, he knows this league and that again will be a great help to us.

“Justin has high end skill and is someone who could play in the top six in any team.

“It’s great for us to have him on board. It’s great for his career too and I know he’s ready to take on the role we have for him.

“He produced for Fife as he scored a lot of points during his two seasons and he’s someone I felt we needed to add.

“We have a hard working team but just seem to lack something offensively.

“To have Justin and Brian Hart in for the weekend will be a boost for us and the fans.

“It’s a message of intent from the ownership and myself and it shows to the players we are not going to accept mediocrity.

“Fair play to the owners who have let me bring in another guy.

“Last weekend was just not good enough and sometimes it can be hard to find consistency.

“However, sometimes you need to add a bit of skill and that’s what we have done.”
