Event to highlight work of Mercy Ships

-

KIRRIEMUIR is to host an evening highlighting the work of Mercy Ships after a local woman gained first-hand experience of working with the international charity.

The event on Thursday will feature UK recording artist Nicki Rogers and magician Dan Alexander, who will entertain the audience and share their own recollections of life on board the world’s largest private floating hospital.

Heather Kelly invited the pair to Angus after they all served on the ship in March. Heather, who flew 3,000 miles to spend a week on board, said: “Nicki and Dan will be providing an entertaining and engaging evening of music and magic, while also sharing moving and inspirational stories from their recent trip to West Africa.”

Nicki said: “I am really looking forward to visiting Kirriemuir as part of the Mercy Ships UK tour with Dan.

“Getting to see the work of Mercy Ships in action was such a life-changing experience for me.”

The charity operates in Benin, one of the world’s poorest nations with a population of about 10 million.

Its ship, the Africa Mercy, is a former Danish rail ferry which has been converted into a hospital ship and is now docked in the port city of Cotonou.

The Old Parish Church event starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £7.
