DUNDEE Stars could be seeking some form of compensation after they were involved in a bizarre happening in Guildford last night.

The Elite League match between Stars and Flames was evenly poised at 2-2 before being abandoned at the end of the first period as the ice was deemed unplayable.

This followed a tight contest between the two teams in Dundee on Saturday where Guildford took the two points after a 3-2 overtime win. Stars earned a point from the match for the draw in regulation time.

Coach Omar Pacha said after last night’s abandonment: “I’m pretty frustrated right now. After a 10-hour drive, we started the game and were playing pretty well and then we were told the game was being called off.

“There is no excuse, the game shouldn’t have been played.

“I’m extremely disappointed and I hope the l eague makes the right decision.

“I don’t want to lay the blame with Guildford but the ice has to be ready for the players and the game and I hope someone will be held accountable.

“We believe there has to be some compensation but that’s a decision for the league to make.”

In Dundee Ice Arena on Saturday, Anthony Mastrodicasa failed a fitness test and sat out the game along with the injured Chris Lawrence and Cameron McGiffin. Also missing was Patrick Lee who returned home to North America earlier last week.
