Coupar’s stunning win at Broomfield

-

COUPAR Angus shocked North Region Super League hosts Montrose Roselea in the Scottish Cup.

The Foxhall outfit got off to a great start with a goal from Ross Wilson after 10 minutes and Alex Gibb doubled the lead on 65 minutes.

Joe Aitken pulled one back 10 minutes later but, shortly afterwards, blew the chances of an equaliser when he skied a penalty over the bar.

And, four minutes later, Tom Casey added a third for the visitors.

Goals from Charlie Fertacz, Jamie Ayton and Ross Mitchell fired Scone Thistle into a three goal-lead at West Calder but, by the break, the hosts were level.

However,Thistle stormed back to win 6-3 thanks to a goal from Kevin Sinclair and second counters from Ayton and Fertacz, Jeanfield Swifts won 2-1 away to Whitletts Vics. Daniel Kelly cracked home Swifts’ opener after 12 minutes but Whitletts levelled nine minutes later. Swifts’ player boss Ross Gunnion grabbed the winner 10 minutes into the second half.

In the all-Fife Scottish Cup clash at Humbug Park, Crossgates ousted Newburgh courtesy of Dale Allan’s only goal of the game.

Even with home advantage, it was always going to be an uphill battle for Brechin Vics and Forfar Albion against top-class sides Bo’ness and Haddington, losing 4-0 and 6-0 respectively. Luncarty let a two-goal lead slip at Vale of Leven. Dale Smart and Keiran Donald appeared to have the Bleachers in easy street at the break but the roof fell in after the interval with the hosts netting three times to go through. Kinnoull lost 4-0 away to Glasgow Perthshire. A Darren Neave goal was all Blairgowrie could muster as they went down 3-1 to hosts Hermes.

Arbroath Vics lost 4-1 at Vale of Clyde. Ryan Lewis scored for Vics who saw Ricky Gillespie’s penalty saved with seven minutes left.
