Monty comes back to haunt Pansies

-

VIOLET took a two-goal lead against Forfar WE at Glenesk.

Craig Batchelor gave the Pansies a half-time lead and the writing was on the wall for West End when he added a second.

But Robbie George pulled one back and, in the final minute, Jamie Montgomery, who was on loan to Violet and played for them last week, netted an equaliser to earn his side a Scottish Cup replay.

Tayport were left dejected after Glenrothes held them to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League.

The Glens took an 11th-minute lead through Gavin Moffat but ’Port levelled through Connor Ireland in 33 minutes.

Ireland then gave the visitors the lead seven minutes after the break but a soft penalty award in injury time allowed Lee Celentano to snatch a point for the Glens.

St Andrews edged out Kirrie Thistle at Westview to move up to fourth in the table.

Aiden Hendry got the only goal of the game that consigned Thistle to a third consecutive defeat.

In the North League, North End moved a step nearer the top of the table with a 5-1 victory over Harp.

Zak Wilson netted a brace for the Dokens with Kieron Surrock, Nathan Scott and Cammy McMahon also finding the net. Jay Smart was the Harp marksman.

RESULT of the week — COUPAR ANGUS’ brilliant 3-1 win at Montrose Roselea.
